What Are The Prerequisites/Requirements?
SpamSentinel runs on the following platforms:
- Windows Server 2003 / 2008 / 2012
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 / 2010 / 2013 installed in the Edge or Hub Transport Role
- Requires a minimum of Microsoft .NET version 3.5 (4.0 or higher for Windows 2012)
How Do You Stop Spam?
SpamSentinel uses two separate, and highly regarded, anti-spam services which work together to identify spam and also weed out false positives - we call this our 'dual-engine' approach. Cloudmark currently protect over two billion subscribers using their 'Community' consisting of billions of users worldwide, located in 165 countries, that report new spam as it happens.
By combining the results of these services and using our unique algorithm, SpamSentinel can determine between definite or 'confirmed' spam, and those 'suspect' messages which are a grey area - such as newsletters or promotions that some recipients want to see and others don't. Outlook filters can be applied on the client side to further refine results.
How Accurate Is it?
In-house testing showed that SpamSentinel blocked over 30% more spam 'out-of-the-box' than two leading anti-virus software applications for Exchange, with virtually no false positives. Suspect messages are delivered to the Outlook 'Junk Email' folder for the user to instantly verify, whereas Confirmed spam can be sent to a Quarantine or deleted/rejected. This means that you can simply 'fire and forget' almost all aspects of spam control once SpamSentinel is installed - no rules, no training the software, no adding of black and white lists, it just works to give you a clean Inbox.
Can I Add Black and White Lists?
Certainly! In fact, we have integrated control of the Exchange blacklists, white lists and users who should be excluded from spam checking right in the SpamSentinel Admin Interface - no more typing of convoluted PowerShell commands to white list a group of senders, only to find that you've overwitten the whole list with the last entry!
Do You Stop Viruses?
Absolutely! We use the Avira anti-virus, based on multiple layers of detection including heuristics, emulation and smart signatures. The Avira engine is routinely placed first in industry detection tests and is certified by Virus Bulletin, West Coast Labs and ICSA Labs - and chosen by prominent vendors such as McAfee, Microsoft, and Google. In addition to this, there is 'zero-hour' protection that blocks a virus almost as soon as it is released.
Can I Try Before I Buy?
Of course! SpamSentinel Server is free to trial for 30 days and can be downloaded here. You will have full access to our excellent support team during this trial and our promise to you is that we will do whatever it takes to get SpamSentinel running as it should in your environment.
What About Pricing?
SpamSentinel is priced per physical seat, not per server. This means that you can install the application on as many servers as you wish to support your client base. If you have shared mailboxes then these will be excluded from the physical user count. We have volume discounts for six users or above - please contact Allison Cote for pricing deals.
