How to run a windows program to kick off a mainframe download program.
How Running an External DOS or Windows TaskWorks
The Sentinel will execute any DOS or Windows task, on a scheduled basis, to perform utility functions like running a download.
Points to Remember
1. These tasks can be a DOS executable, or a Batch (.bat) program.
2. If the program needs arguments, make sure they are entered into the form. You do not want to be at the computer at 2:00 AM.
3. The task immediately tells the Sentinel that it is complete (due to the nature of Windows). You must, therefore, schedule these separately from other tasks that rely on their completion. For example, suppose a download takes 45 minutes to complete. Schedule the download task to run at 1:00 AM. Schedule a separate ASCII to Notes task to run at 2:00 AM. Do NOT put them both into the same Schedule (or Set) form.
