Chapter 7 - Field Name Mapping from Legacy to Notes
Table of Contents

The Sentinel is fully integrated with the Field Mapping Database. (A separate product, The Information Catalog allows data warehouse managers to develop a comprehensive data dictionary of all data sources in their organization in the friendly Lotus Notes format. Field Name Mapping
The field name mapper allows synonyms that more accurately depicts the field's contents. This is convenient if one data element historically was given more than one field name, or the field name is not sufficiently clear. In the example below, the field name mapper uses the Synonym CompanyName instead of the original dBase name of COMP_NAME.

If you are using the field mapping feature of the Sentinel, here is the view after the user entered the synonym metadata. Notice how legacy information has been converted to Notes-style field names! When the Sentinel imports this data into Notes, it reads and uses the synonyms as field names. This is great for unifying all historical data names.
