Another one bites the dust!

11/05/2010

I just got this in my In-box. Although Lotus Notes has "a nice personality" they have decided to marry someone else, whose name is Google!

Here is the email I just received that prompted this blog posting:

I regret to tell you we will no longer be subscribing to SpamSentinel.   We have decided to switch to Google Apps and will no longer host our own email.

I want to say that your product has worked very well for us.  And as well as it worked, I was even more impressed with your terrific support staff.   I "talked" to Nick and Chris several times over the years and they were always great.  Early on, Chris even did some tweaks to my basic Notes system to make it run better.  You guys have a great group.

This is really not fun. Frank Paolino is working hard to fight back with the NotesAppStore.com So far, this is one of the few sites where a customer can find quality, customer-proven apps for Lotus Notes all in one place, as a response to "Google Apps".

His original vision for the site was a collective effort by all members to promote apps for Lotus Notes and Domino and the site is free.

Collectively we ( the Lotus Notes and Domino Business Partners ) need a strong voice to fight the likes of Google! How many times have you heard "Notes is a dinosaur" well we know differently but we are not getting the word out to our customer base! The NotesAppStore is a way to showcase our very robust and active apps for Lotus Notes and Domino. We need a way to shout from the proverbial roof tops that Lotus Notes is Alive and Well!

Frank is looking for new ideas to help make the NotesAppStore site a productive resource.

Still, some vendors have not made their free listing at the NotesAppStore and are content to go-it-alone, while others have given up? Maybe we are not making clear the focus of the NotesAppStore - this is a place to highlight the resources we offer as Business Partners. This is a place where customers can and should be able to easily find us and inquire about the many offerings available in the Lotus Notes and Domino market. Google may be the big player on the field but we are dedicated and dependable vendors with much more to offer customers than a move Google.

So my questions to all Lotus Lovers everywhere is:

What else can we do, as a community, to fight back and keep our customers???

HELP!
